About Wendy
Where life exists—stories happen. I’m looking for the stories of life – wherever I may find them. Whether its ants lining up to collect food, a cat stalking a (stuffed) mouse, or the dance of the snowy egret looking for lunch, the act of living tells a story. With each picture, we can see a glimpse into the life of another. With each glimpse, we can better envision the different stories of our world of all creatures great and small.
Each photo represents anywhere from a few hours to years of patience, waiting, anticipating, envisioning, and hoping. I’m a wildlife photographer. When I’m not photographing wildlife outside, I’m looking for the wildlife inside. So I started doing custom pet portraits. After all, we pet owners know that our furry friends can be even more wild than outdoor wildlife!
I’m a Virginia Master Naturalist and most of all I want to share the amazing world I see through the lens of my fine art photography. I’ve been known to sit in the same spot for days to capture just the perfect moment, and I want to bring those moments to everyone, so we can share and delight in discoveries. I hope that we can marvel together at the little details of the world and the uniqueness that each living creature brings us!
I have been doing fine art photography for 27 years. The defining highlight of my career is having two of my wildlife photographs selected for National Geographic’s prestigious Daily Dozen—an incredible honor, given its reputation for showcasing some of the world’s most extraordinary photography. The Daily Dozen featured twelve standout photos selected by National Geographic editors from the global pool of submissions. These selections were celebrated for their exceptional quality and storytelling across various genres, including wildlife, landscapes, and cultural moments.
