The True Story of The Scholar

The Scholar has become one of my most beloved pieces. It is the most purchased, the most commented on, and definitely gets the most attention.

But all of this time, Moriarty (the cat) has been maligned and misunderstood!

Yes, he did have that moment of weakness that we try to overlook:

But look more closely. The title is: The Scholar

You assumed that Dangerous Beans (the mouse) is The Scholar. But really? Does he look like he’s reading the book? All this time, Moriarty claimed he’s innocent — and that, really, he was just trying to read the book.

So I did some investigating. In this shot, Moriarty’s intentions are still a tad suspect.

But he had always proclaimed his innocence. So in order to clear his name, I needed to dig a little deeper. I went back through all of the shots taken that afternoon, and now I have found definitive proof.

Moriarty is The Scholar

He truly was, as he claimed, trying to read over Dangerous Beans’s shoulder. Dangerous Beans was just acting like any little brother, and trying to get in Moriarty’s way.

And now you know... the rest of the story.
