Mine, All Mine!

A wonderful bird is the pelican,
His bill will hold more than his belican.
He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week,
But I'm damned if I see how the helican.

Icarus

A once in a lifetime shot. Some pieces don’t just take days — they take years. This was taken during one beautiful weekend. The wind was down (which is unusual at Chincoteague!) The lighting was perfect. Everything came together.

But I’ve been going back for 19 years, and it’s the only time that that I had a snow egret coming right towards the camera. It’s a hero shot.

Your Moment of Zen

Sometimes a moment of time is so perfect, so peaceful, so contemplative — it’s your Moment of Zen

I love the gestures in this piece. The shapes remind me of an infinity symbol, and I get lost following the curves.

The Adventure Begins

This was taken on the Farne Islands. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had. However, we were limited to just a couple of hours on the island. So when I saw these guys sitting on the wall, I had to decide whether I wanted to sit and wait for one to take off, or whether I should go find other puffins.

It was worth the wait! I see this as a young puffin making his way off in the world. With parents and siblings sitting back and discussing his chances.
